Ana Rosario is a Hispanic 30-year-old woman who is in love with God and with humankind. With a compassionate nature, she has served in missions in Africa, aided trafficked women in Cyprus, and has a personal slogan that states “If only one life is changed by what I have been through, then it was all worth it”.
During her life, she has lost many family members from either cancer or cardiac issues. Her father is a cancer survivor; however, she has lost the grandmother who practically raised her in 2014, though she will be in her heart forever. Her grandmother is her motivation to be the light in the darkness for all the cancer patients that she will care for. She will also honor the nurse practitioner who intervened in her darkest valleys and encouraged her to start from zero on her path to a better life.
- Ana is a senior nursing student at Universidad del Sagrado Corazón in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
- Currently has a GPA of 3.77/4.00 (Magna Cum Laude).
- As a veteran of the national guard who never deployed overseas, she does not have any educational benefits.
- According to the Nurse Journal and the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics: “Cancer rates are projected to increase as the U.S. population ages, oncology nurse jobs will likely keep pace”. In addition, according to the American Oncology Network: “While the impact of a nursing shortage will cause ripples throughout the healthcare industry, it will have a greater effect on oncology”.
The specific purpose of this fundraiser is to be able to complete her last semester of nursing school, fulfill her expected graduation date in June 2022, and to help meet the high demand of nurses in the field of oncology (a branch of medicine that specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer).
